Will Lewis

Owner/Hitting Coach

Sports in general — and the game of baseball in particular — taught Arkansas-native Will Lewis many life lessons. Perhaps the most important were how to win with respect and how to lose with class.

Will wants to share those lessons, learned over the course of a collegiate and professional playing career, with young players in Arkansas.

A Texarkana native, Will excelled at Arkansas High and went on to play junior college ball at Seminole State in Oklahoma and then Division 1 ball at TCU. Drafted by the Brewers in 2003, Will spent four years in the minor leagues. Multiple injuries cut short his playing career, but Will is excited to return to his home state armed with an impressive training resume to help local young players.

Fitness and staying active remain important to Will, who received a B.S. in Kinesiology from TCU. Plus, Will has earned several training accreditations including: American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer, NSCA Certified Strength and Condition Specialist (CSCS), Youth Fitness Specialist, and INSANITY Certified Group Fitness Instructor.

Partnering with former professional players Dustin Moseley and Jay Sawatski, Will wants to use PROFORMANCE and ELEVATE as a vehicle to give back to the game of baseball.

"I've been blessed to have fulfilled my childhood dream of playing professional baseball," Will said. "Baseball has given me a chance to travel the country and meet many people. I'm grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of kids, and teach them the game of baseball and how sports can prepare them for real life situations. I'm so thankful that I have the opportunity to go to work everyday and help people become healthy and learn about the importance of fitness and nutrition."

Here's a look at Will's baseball playing career:

  • High School, juco: A three-sport letterman (baseball, football, basketball) during high school in Texarkana, Will was an all-state second baseman for the Arkansas High Razorbacks in 1998 and 1999. He went on to play at Seminole State College in Oklahoma, where he was a 2001 NJCAA all-American. He was named the 2000 NJCAA World Series defensive MVP, and in 2001 earned "Big Stick" honors by posting a .409 batting average with 10 home runs and 70 RBI. During the summer of 2001, Will played in the Alaskan Summer League where he helped Anchorage to an NBC National Championship while capturing the league's Home Run King trophy.

  • College ball at TCU: Will earned Defensive Player of the Year honors for the Horned Frogs in 2002 and 2003. In his two seasons in Fort Worth, Will committed just six errors at second base. His career batting average for the Frogs was .320 with 12 homers. At TCU, Will was active with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and became involved with various organizations and charities throughout the community.

  • The big leagues: Drafted in the 32nd round of the 2003 draft by Milwaukee, Will played four seasons with the Brewers, three as a second baseman and one as a utility player seeing action as a middle infielder and at all three spots in the outfield. Numerous injuries and subsequent surgeries cut short his stay in Milwaukee, however, and Will spent a year away from baseball rehabbing his shoulder. After two more seasons of Independent League baseball, Will finished his professional career with a combined batting average of .283.

Will and his wife Bevin welcomed son Gage in January of 2012. Through his strong faith in God, Will recognizes that his life has been filled with many blessings. There are the obvious ones like family and the not-so-obvious ones — like injuries — that aren’t immediately recognizable.

"I've learned that blessings aren't always good things that happen in life," he said. "They can come as tough trials to help you learn and grow."
